Becky Crow

Becky’s work has always had a strongly illustrative leaning. Designs are developed from drawings, both observational and imagined.

Alternatively some pieces arise from a desire to express concepts around connectedness, relationships, and our place in the world. Elements of narrative are captured in silver and transformed into miniature scenes telling out across the surface of a brooch or hanging as a pendant. Her hope is that people recognise part of their own story hidden within the jewellery.

Becky works in sheet silver and copper with gold for detailing. The metal is pierced out, the textures or patterns are applied to the surface using a rolling mill and templates. These components are then layered together and soldered. The pieces are finished with a mixture of matt, oxidised and polished surfaces to add depth and tone.
