Eve Taylor

Eve Claire Taylor has her workshop at Red Herring Studios based in Hove. Being born and bred in Brighton she was lucky enough to complete an apprenticeship with a local jeweller straight from school, establishing her jewellery skills at a young age. She then returned to University (after living and working in France), as a full time mature student on Brighton University’s wood, metal, ceramics and plastics course. Having developed her knowledge of metal work over three years BA (Hons) degree, she now specializes in silver tableware, specifically spoons, ladles, napkin rings, condiment dishes and candlesticks. Her inspirations are predominantly fuelled by urban nature, ‘Oasis’ within the town’. Natural formations are an endless and plentiful source of visual inspiration for her work. Palm leaves and stems feed into her fascination with spoons and ladles - objects which combine practicality alongside ornamental qualities. Fluid shapes lend themselves perfectly to all the aspects and advantages of working with a versatile material such as silver. Eve fuses traditional silversmithing techniques with her own contemporary ideas, preserving a feeling of elegance within her work. She finds that spontaneity combined with structured design is a very important factor when working. As with plant growth, Eve believes balance, combined with an evolution of ideas is of equal importance. Eve Claire Taylor’s main aim is to create silverware, which is as practical, as aesthetically pleasing
