Frances Levis

Frances uses the traditional technique of hand forging to create jewellery and items of silverware. She takes inspiration from the way the metal changes under the different blows of the hammer, which she uses to her advantage when designing.

In some pieces, hammer marks are retained and highly polished in order to create a glittering effect. In others, the silver is forged into an S curve and the surface is satinised and freshwater pearls are added to create a feminine and sophisticated look.

The newest range of jewellery incorporates beautiful labdorite beads and diamonds for a touch of luxury. In contrast, the items of silverware are finished so hammer marks are worked out to leave a smooth, stylish surface, which Frances feels is more appropriate as contemporary objects on the table where they enhance and inspire modern living.
