Sylvaine Frouin

Sylvaine is a French jeweller currently living in Brighton. She has always been a true art lover and progressively developed her own style during her art and jewellery studies in the west of France.

Illustration was her first passion so when she decided to be a jewellery designer she naturally gave a figurative style to her designs. "I like to associate organic shapes and geometric lines. I can find my inspiration in the beauty of a tree or in a mysterious little mechanical car piece, observing a stone or a pearl, or sometimes it simply comes out of nowhere. All my jewels are handmade, in silver combined with other materials (wood, natural pearls, precious and semi-precious stones, recycled pieces)"

Sylvaine graduated from L’Ecole Tané, a traditional school of jewellery and silversmith’s trade in Brittany, in June 2009. She uses many different techniques and her work is constantly evolving in a poetic, sensitive and original way. Her desire to create unique things made her develop a new concept of "jewel-objects" that combine 3 disciplines: jewellery, illustrations and woodwork. The idea is giving life to a jewel when nobody is wearing it. The jewel fits into a sculpted piece of wood and it becomes the heart of a colourful world, the missing piece of the story. Sylvaine is a new member of the sussex guild of craftsmen.
