Julian Stephens grew up in Hove and has lived and worked in Brighton for most of his life. After training as a silversmith at Kent Institute of Art and Design, he worked in London for silversmith Richard Fox.
After two years in the city he returned to Brighton and set up his first workshop at the Metway building in Kemptown, owned by his friends The Levellers. From this base he began to develop ranges of jewellery and silverware, influenced by his experiences working with Pruden and Smith in Ditchling. Julian is a member of The Sussex Guild and has also collaborated with fellow artists to form Brighton Designers and Makers: an artists outlet in Sydney Street Brighton (now in its 12th year).
In 2003 Julian decided to start his own independent venture, and with a small loan opened his shop at 37 Gloucester Road, Brighton. Here he has established a popular business specialising in British hand made jewellery showing work by over 40 independent designer makers.
Showcasing his own silverware, silver jewellery and fine jewellery, Julian also offers his design expertise to those looking to have something unique made he also offers a full range of services including repairs, alterations, remakes and rebuilds.
Julian specialises in bespoke individual pieces of contemporary fine jewellery and silver giftware ranging from candelabras and teapots, to engagement rings and bracelets.
